Mental illness is on the rise, affecting nearly 1 in every 4 Americans. Thus, millions are turning to therapy to find the support they need. At EMI, we collaborate with therapists by supporting every individual in the ecosystem, regardless of their mental health status, ensuring everyone has the tools to navigate challenges before they arise.
Mental Health Basics
Mental Health Professionals (MHPs), licensed in the respective competencies and approaches, work closely with individuals to enhance self-awareness, develop coping strategies, improve relationships, encourage behavioral change, support personal growth, address trauma and healing, foster independence, and promote well-being. Throughout the course of therapy–whether one-on-one or in a group–individuals struggling from mental illness benefit by building resilience, improving relationship skills, coping with symptoms effectively, shifting perception and behaviors that hold them back, and setting clear goals. Getting Ahead of the Issue
The unfortunate reality is that MHPs are stretched thin. The State of Mental Health in America reports that there are nearly 340 individuals per one MHP–an estimate that may even be optimistic given the rising demand for care. See here: https://mhanational.org/issues/state-mental-health-america. At EMI, we aim to support both MHPs and individuals by addressing challenges before they become crises.
Our Proactive Approach
If 1 in 4 Americans are dealing with mental illness, that means that 3 of 4 are currently stable or even flourishing right now. At EMI, our goal is to support these individuals by equipping them with tools to deal with adversity before it arises. Through our StepBack Sessions, individuals develop self-awareness, enhance communication, build stronger connections, and learn tools to manage stress, change their behaviors, and overcome challenges. By fostering resilience proactively, we help lighten the load on MHPs while empowering individuals to lead healthier, more connected lives.
