Dominance and Control

Context

In high performing organizations, the mission has to be the priority. Some team members might prioritize sheer force of will and control to get there. Some team members might prioritize supporting others in getting there. There is a time and context in which both can be achieved, but a lack of clarity around when and how can hinder important communication and disrupt overall progress towards the mission.

Outcome

Bring awareness to our desire for and use of control.
Understand when control is selfishly driven vs mission/team driven and when to get others involved.

Main Questions

Is there a difference between being assertive and needing control?
"What is something you do that others perceive as control, but you are just trying to be assertive?"
How important is it to have others involved in the process vs just being told what to do?
